Day One of the 2026 Insurance Industry Conference The Insurance Industry Conference officially kicked off today at the Radisson Blu in Livingstone. The conference is being held under the theme “Bridging Nations, Unlocking Africa’s Growth Potential,”, it has brought together insurance industry leaders, regulators, policymakers, and other key stakeholders from across the region. The conference was officially opened by the Guest of Honour, the Secretary to the Treasury Mr. Felix Nkulukusa, represented by the Accountant General, Ms. Nsandi Manza. Key takeaways from this morning opening address was the need for the insurance industry to evolve and create more innovative products, collaborate with stakeholders and create stronger partnerships. Only then would the industry be able to position itself to face emerging risks such as cyber threats, pandemics, climate change, and technological disruption. A central message from the opening address was that no single country or institution can address these challenges alone. Regional cooperation, knowledge sharing, harmonized regulatory frameworks, and enhanced cross-border investment are critical to building resilient insurance markets and expanding access to affordable insurance solutions across Africa. Following the official opening, delegates engaged in a series of insightful panel discussions and presentations that explored opportunities and challenges shaping the future of the insurance industry. The discussions provided valuable perspectives from the regional partners, industry leaders, and experts. The conference continues tomorrow with more insightful and thought provoking discussions.
