Pembroke has loaned an 11th-century gospel lectionary (Pembroke MS302) to Hereford Cathedral for its new exhibition, Shaping Early Medieval Faith: The Hereford Gospels. The exhibition explores the creation of the Gospels and their use across the centuries. Pembroke MS302 has been dated to the late Anglo-Saxon period, and there is evidence to suggest it may have been made in Hereford. It is regarded as one of the most sumptuously illuminated of the Anglo-Saxon lectionaries still in existence and was influenced by a mix of eleventh-century Continental manuscripts. The exhibition runs until Saturday 12 September 2026, at Hereford Cathedral’s Mappa Mundi & Chained Library Museum. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. #PembrokeCollegeCambridge #HerefordCathedral #SharingKnowledge
