Congratulations to Emeritus Fellow Professor Michael Reeve FBA, who has been awarded an Honorary Degree in Philology, Literatures and History of the Ancient World by Sapienza Università di Roma. The ceremony, held in Rome, included addresses by the Rector, Professor Antonella Polimeni, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Professor Arianna Punzi, as well as a laudatio by Giorgio Piras, professor of classical philology. In response, Professor Reeve delivered a lecture entitled: 'An Investigation Yet to Be Undertaken. Professor Reeve is one of the most distinguished philologists of his generation. His pioneering research has helped illuminate the historical and cultural processes by which Classical texts have been transmitted through manuscripts across centuries and cultures. After lecturing in Oxford for 18 years, he moved to Cambridge in 1984 to take up the Kennedy Professorship of Latin and was admitted as a Fellow of Pembroke. He retired from teaching in 2006.
