What can a private members' club teach us about the future of fine wine? Private members' clubs emerged in 19th-century London as places where Britain's political and commercial elite could build trust, exchange ideas and strengthen relationships away from public view. Informal circles became formal memberships. I didn't know anything about private members' clubs before arriving in London ten years ago. So when I had the opportunity to join 67 Pall Mall, I jumped at the chance to study Britishness up close, while still feeling somehow at home—67PM is, after all, dedicated to #wine. Over the past decade, I've watched the club grow from a single London location into an international community spanning Europe and Asia. Yet the same model—built on trust, community and shared interests—is now being tested by a generation that has a very different relationship with status, exclusivity and fine wine itself. In our latest Areni Global #podcast, I speak with Grant Ashton, founder and CEO of 67 Pall Mall, about what this evolution can teach us about the future of fine wine. We discuss: 🍷 How a club that began almost by accident grew into one of the world's largest international fine wine communities, with locations across Europe and Asia. 🍷 What private members' clubs reveal about changing patterns of work, community and consumption 🍷 How younger consumers engage with the category 🎧 Link to the episode in the comments.
