Congratulations to Stefan Ritt on receiving the prestigious IEEE CANPS Award!   For more than 30 years, the software MIDAS developed by Stefan Ritt at PSI Paul Scherrer Institut has helped particle physics experiments around the world process enormous amounts of data in real time. Today, this lifetime achievement is being recognised with the IEEE CANPS Award, honouring Stefan’s outstanding contributions to data processing and computing in nuclear and plasma sciences. With MIDAS, Stefan created a flexible and hardware-independent system that became a standard for particle physics experiments still in use worldwide today.   Presented at the IEEE Real Time Conference by the IEEE Computer Applications in Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Technical Committee, the award recognises contributions with exceptional and lasting impact on the scientific community.
