No longer just viewing tissue as a thin section under a microscope, but analysing it entirely in 3-D: PSI researchers have developed an AI system that might one day aid in medical diagnoses. They have virtually stained high-resolution micro-CT data similarly to classical histology. 💫 The researchers worked with phase-contrast images of tissue acquired at the Swiss Light Source SLS. 🫁 Using this method, pathological changes in lung vessels could be visualised in three dimensions. ⚕️ In the long term, this could open up new possibilities for the analysis of tumours, vascular changes, and complex tissue structures – and bring today’s pathology closer to true “3-D histology.” 👉 https://lnkd.in/edf58NYB 📸 Pictured: Goran Lovric at the Swiss Light Source SLS.
