If you were unable to read the article by my daughter about her experience achieving her personal goal of climbing all of the Wainwright peaks in the UK Lake District, here’s a fresh gift link. It should be good for the next 7 days. I take credit for one aspect of her rules: when we first started hiking together, I’d ask her “What’s the goal for today?” If she said “to climb Mt. Whatever”, I’d reply “No. The goal is to climb Mt. Whatever and get back down, safely!” The mountain will be here tomorrow, next week, next year. Always be willing to turn back. When I spoke to Sarah about her experience, she let me know that she had turned back multiple times, for various reasons. Thanks, Sarah.
