Happy to share my latest article, now published in Urban Studies Journal entitled "The Unbearable Resilience of Medellín." Rather than taking Medellín's celebrated "urban miracle" at face value, this article examines how violence continues to shape everyday life long after armed conflict appears to have ended. It proposes a framework centred on both the "resilience of violence" and the "violence of resilience", arguing that recovery initiatives can simultaneously reduce insecurity while reproducing new forms of exclusion and #criminalgovernance. The article is part of the Special Issue, "The Urbanisation of Conflict and Conflict Urbanisation," guest edited by Deen Sharp and Thiruni Kelegama.
