Who’s going to invest in our communities if we don’t? It’s easy for neighborhoods like Grier Heights to get overlooked. Surrounded by high-income areas, quietly carrying deep needs that don’t always make the agenda. But these aren’t just underserved communities on a map — these are our people. Our neighbors. Our family. That’s why yesterday hit different. I had the privilege of being on the ground at DreamKey Partners ’ “Flavor, Future & Fun” Block Party in Grier Heights — table set up, resources ready, energy high. Then the sky opened up — and so did the true character of every partner in that room. As someone who works every day connecting communities to resources through SodexoMagic , I know that the most meaningful work rarely happens under perfect conditions. It happens when people choose to show up anyway. 19 partners. 100+ residents. Zero hesitation. ☔ That’s the thing about diamonds — they’re not formed in comfort. They’re formed under pressure. That message doesn’t get delivered by one organization. It gets delivered when local partners, advocates, and community champions show up together — rain and all. Grateful to DreamKey Partners for leading this work with such heart and intentionality. Grateful to Carla M. Scott, Ms. T and the Grier Heights Community Center staff for opening their doors when the skies closed in. And grateful to every partner who showed up and stayed. Community isn’t built when the sun shines. It’s forged in the storm. ⛈️💎 #GrierHeights #CommunityEngagement #DreamKeyPartners #SDOH #CharlotteNC #ResourceNavigation #CommunityFirst #GrierHeights
