What happens when a group of complete beginners from around the world teams up to build a 3D video game in exactly 7 days? Absolute chaos, a lot of git merge conflicts, and eventually... a finished game. I’m incredibly proud to share "Need for Squeak", our submission for the Juniper Dev Very Serious Game Jam! The theme was "Spin to Win", we decided to make a racing game where the steering wheel is replaced by a literal hamster running in a hamster wheel. This was the very first game jam (and first completed game) for all of us. As a group of beginners from around the world, working remotely across wildly different time zones was a huge challenge, but it pushed us to collaborate and communicate in ways we never had before. I contributed by modelling the cars and track, rigging and animating the hamster, and working on the UI and overall game design. Out of over 3,500 submissions, we managed to place in the Top 300! It’s a huge testament to this team carrying the vision across the finish line. You can play the game on Itch.io here: https://lnkd.in/gTXrpPgB And if you want to see the behind-the-scenes chaos of how we built it, I just uploaded a full Devlog on YouTube: https://lnkd.in/gQr2qvj9 #GameDev #GodotEngine #Blender3D #GameJam #3DModeling #IndieGameDev #GameDesign #RemoteCollaboration
