Parliament Fountains will be lit red and yellow from tonight until Sunday 12 July to celebrate NAIDOC Week and this year's theme, '50 Years of Deadly', which recognises the strength, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. #WAParliament also acknowledges the importance of Australian Indigenous languages to Aboriginal people and communities. Former member of Parliament Josie Farrer, a proud Kija (Gidja) woman from the Kimberley, made history in April 2013 as the first politician to speak an Australian Indigenous language in the Parliament of Western Australia, delivering part of her inaugural speech in Gidja and Kriol. 🎥To listen to Josie Farrer's historic inaugural speech👇 https://lnkd.in/ezZFwuaW To learn more about NAIDOC Week👇 https://www.naidoc.org.au/ 🔴#NAIDOCWeek #NAIDOC2026 #50YearsOfDeadly #FirstNations #WesternAustralia #WA🟡
