A phase 2 trial that we funded has shown that a new drug can reduce brain inflammation in people with a higher risk of being diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Developed by the company Syntara, the initial results show that the drug has potential to delay or stop Parkinson’s symptoms progressing, something no treatment can currently do. The full results of the trial will be released later in the year, which will help shape the next steps. Lynsey Bilsland, managing director of our drug development programme shares the results and the progress it represents.
