Pan American Grace Airway's very first aircraft type, a single-engine Fairchild FC-2, sits next to a PANAGRA Douglas DC-6 at an unidentified, likely South American, airport circa 1950. Behind the DC-6 we can make out what appears to be the aft fuselage and tail of a DC-2 or DC-3. Pan Am owned half of this jointly operated (with Grace Shipping Lines), NYC-based international carrier from 1928 to 1967. Photo courtesy of the Pan Am Historical Foundation, Photographer unknown.
