This year's #WorldYouthSkillsDay theme is 'Skills for a Shared Future.' Our programme Challenge Fund for Youth Employment (CFYE) is reflecting on the conversations sparked at CFYE's Future of Work is Youth Forum in Nairobi this past April, where young people, funders, businesses, and partners came together to exchange perspectives on what meaningful youth really demands in the employment space. At the centre of it all was a shared recognition: that young people need more than technical skills alone to thrive. In a world shaped by AI, the green transition, and growing social complexity, the future calls for a broader mix of capabilities, from digital and technical skills to resilience, adaptability, empathy, and problem-solving. But skills do not develop in a vacuum. They are shaped by ecosystems that connect young people’s ambitions with real market opportunities, and by businesses willing to rethink how talent is attracted, retained, and grown. And that is where the dialogue becomes practical: not only in naming the skills needed, but in looking at how businesses can help turn those skills into tangible outcomes. Check out the video below where participants shared their practical advice for youth taking the first steps into the labour market! #Palladium l Faatimah Clarke l #YouthSkills l #Employment l #CFYE
