Interoperability is often the missing link in digital health systems. In Burundi, a new collaboration is helping to close that gap. Through work led by Open Function (OpenFn), in partnership with Data.FI Project and supported by the U.S. Department of State, Burundi is advancing a more connected national HIV health information exchange—one that reduces manual processes, improves data quality, and strengthens how information flows across systems. By combining OpenFn’s expertise in integration and automation with our experience delivering digital health solutions in complex environments, this effort is helping turn fragmented systems into coordinated infrastructure. The result is not only technical. It means better visibility for decision-makers, more reliable reporting, and ultimately stronger HIV service delivery.
