Starting at PAB Studios has been incredibly refreshing. Just 3 weeks in, I already feel like I’m in a great place. The team made me feel welcome from day one, which has had a big impact from the thoughtful welcome gift to colleagues across different departments checking in, asking how I’m getting on, and reminding me to take things easy on myself. A big thank you to Rita and Cyrus for taking the time to answer all my questions during that first week! As a new starter, I like to get to grips with everything as quickly as possible. Having experience working with brands and structured folder systems has definitely helped me settle in and adapt to PAB much quicker. My first day felt very different from my previous role. Although my initial chat with Mick and Camille was brief, it instantly set the tone and made me feel at ease, something that goes a long way when you’re starting somewhere new and is greatly appreciated. In my first week, I probably put a bit of pressure on myself to get as much done as possible, but that comes from wanting to fully understand the work, the clients, and how the business operates and to make a good first impression. I’ve really enjoyed the variety of projects so far, which is important to me. From digital artwork and animations to leaflets, banners, door hangers, and feather flags, there’s already been a great mix of work to get involved in. The workplace environment itself has also been energising. The atmosphere, along with the people, creates a genuinely positive vibe. It’s clear that Camille Johnson cares about her team, and it’s refreshing to see how much the little things matter, whether that’s bringing in Domino’s, Do Boy Donuts, or roses for Valentine’s Day for the girls. I’ve also had some great conversations with the team in The Hive, which really adds to the sense of community and gives the whole place a real ‘Buzz’. In these first three weeks, I’ve received kind feedback from both clients and colleagues. As a designer, that’s something I truly value. Feedback isn’t always guaranteed in this role, so hearing it makes a real difference and is another positive of working here. I’m looking forward to continuing to develop, getting to know my colleagues and clients more, and seeing what other exciting projects come through the door. Thank you to everyone at PAB for making my start such a comfortable and positive one — it’s very much appreciated!
