Is the UK’s built environment ready for a warming world? Our research is helping to answer that question, with our work now playing a critical role in shaping the UK’s latest national climate strategies. Recent findings from the Climate Change Committee (CCC)—specifically A Well-Adapted UK and the Fourth UK Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA4) Technical Report—highlight a stark reality: as heatwaves become more frequent, heat-related deaths could exceed 10,000 annually without urgent, large-scale adaptation measures.
