We’re proud to be leading Study Higher, an Office for Students-funded programme in collaboration with Buckinghamshire New University, the University of Oxford and the University of Reading. “Today has opened my eyes to different possible career choices…,” says a pupil who took part in one of the events we organised for teenage girls from different backgrounds to find out more about higher education. “I liked hearing the experiences of people like me and being able to relate to someone who has broken the barriers,” she said. Pupils from Cressex Community School in High Wycombe, Cheney School in Oxford and St Michael’s Catholic School in Aylesbury attended the events. An Inspire to Empower day was aimed at Pakistani and Bangladeshi girls, while a STEM Fusion event focused on Caribbean, African, and mixed-heritage students. Speed networking with professionals from the same ethnic background and student ambassadors from Oxford Brookes were part of both events. The aim was for students to meet people they can relate to, who understand their specific challenges and barriers. #HigherEducation #StudyHigher #OxfordBrookes #STEM #Empowerment
