But this crisis is not inevitable or unsolvable. 12 leading UK aid agencies have joined with Sudanese diaspora and civil rights organisations to call on the UK government to show the leadership the situation demands. As UN Security Council penholder on Sudan, the UK must use all its diplomatic, political and economic influence to push for a ceasefire, protect civilians, secure safe and sustained humanitarian access and increase funding before even more lives are lost.
