Last Sunday we hosted the 3rd Oxford Artificial Intelligence Society Conference https://lnkd.in/ezZ4Y5cd at the Oxford e-Research Centre & Department of Computer Science, University of Oxford — and what an extraordinary day it was. 🎉 From our keynote by Professor Celeste Rodríguez Louro on engaging critically with GenAI, to featured talks by Andreas Kollegger, Dominik Lukes Lukeš, and Josh Lawman exploring agentic systems and the future of AI tooling, the programme captured the breadth and ambition of the field today. The afternoon brought thought-provoking panels — Elizabeth Gilkey led a fascinating discussion on AI and the interpretive traditions of the humanities, Narankar S. and Evelyn Schneider on the new era of AI chatbots, and we were proud to co-host a joint panel, moderated by Lana Seo, with the AI Competency Centre and Claude Builder Club @ Oxford on how the academic community will shape the future of AI. Our research presentations showcased remarkable work from across Oxford and beyond, from virtue ethics and AI governance to one-step echocardiogram synthesis, brain-inspired learning algorithms, and LLM-simulated tutorials. The interdisciplinary range was exactly what OXAI is about. Fittingly, the conference fell on International Women's Day, making it all the more meaningful to celebrate the diverse voices driving AI forward. A huge thank you to all our speakers, panellists, presenters, and attendees! our organising chairs, Puyu Wang, Evelyn Schneider, Narankar S., Frederik Nolte, and Elizabeth Gilkey, advisors Ivan Vasenov, Udai D., Will Burke,, and operation team Udai D. Daniel K., Lana Seo, Paul Schmidt, Linh Tra Vu, Michela Keller Zaid Kaddour Narankar S. and to the many, many more people whose dedication, energy, and generosity behind the scenes brought it all together. This conference belongs to all of you -- AI for the benefit of everyone! Already looking forward to what comes next. 🧠💻 Special thanks to our friends at the AI Competency Centre Zoe Case, Kelly Webb-Davies, Anders Reagan, Dominik Lukes and at Claude Builder Club @ Oxford, Ayca Deniz Ergin and Robert Bowker.
