Really looking forward to this. As it popped up, I had just read yet another story about “the scale of economic challenges” facing the next Prime Minister. And yes, of course there are challenges. But I can think of plenty of stories from Ayrshire over the last year that offer real cause for optimism. Hope and optimism are part of the fuel that keeps people, businesses and communities moving forward, and I’ll be bringing plenty of both with me in September. Ayrshire has a deep business story, from manufacturing and engineering to food and drink, aerospace, tourism and clean energy. It’s a part of Scotland with real ambition and strong businesses. So I am delighted Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce has chosen Raised on Resilience to launch this new leadership series. It began with a simple question: “Where do you get your resilience from?” We’ll talk about my grandpa Geoff and how his life shaped how I lead and live and about how reflecting on what shaped you and your purpose can propel you to creating growth when conditions are far from straightforward. Huge thanks to Claire Baird and the team for the invitation. I can’t wait to see everyone in West Kilbride on 1 September.
