We are excited and incredibly proud to share that Overnewton has been named a finalist in the Sustainability Victoria 2026 ResourceSmart Schools Awards. Recognised in the Teacher of the Year (Secondary) category, this nomination celebrates the outstanding work of our Synergy Sustainability Leader, Natalie Di Sauro. Through immersive Learning on Country, the integration of Indigenous knowledge, meaningful partnerships with our yapa (sister) school Shepherdson College, and hands-on environmental action, Natalie is inspiring students to become thoughtful custodians of the world around them. From conservation projects and citizen science to the Galiwin’ku Op Shop initiative, her work connects culture, community and care for the environment in powerful, lasting ways. A recent visit to Borneo supporting orangutan rehabilitation and reforestation has enabled Natalie to further enrich the College’s Outdoor Education curriculum and deepen students’ understanding of environmental responsibility. Since 2022, Overnewton has received seven finalist nominations and two award wins, reflecting a sustained commitment to sustainability across the College. Congratulations, Natalie, on this well-deserved recognition.
