A student team of young innovators from Caroline Chisholm School in Northampton, UK, has earned an honourable mention in the EMEA region of Otis’s Made to Move Communities™ programme. As a result, the school will receive a $7,500 grant to support ongoing #STEM education. Now in its sixth year, the competition challenged students to develop mobility solutions that support first responders and residents during emergencies such as floods, wildfires and hurricanes. The students rose to the challenge with an inspiring, life saving concept called “quake snakes” 🐍🤖 — robotic snakes designed to move through rubble after earthquakes, locate survivors and guide rescuers. The team were supported by Otis mentors through the 8-week programme, gaining valuable, real-world experience and confidence, while making a meaningful impact through innovation.
