⚡150 km completed! The cable corridor for the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 offshore wind farm is taking shape in the Baltic Sea. Before offshore cables can be installed, the seabed must be carefully prepared. That work is now well underway. The vessel BOKA Falcon, owned by Boskalis, has completed the first stage of trenching, preparing 150 km of inter-array cable routes that will connect the wind turbines. Next up: trenching 260 km of export cable routes, ahead of installation by cable-laying vessels Ndurance and Boka Ocean. “Completing works on the inter-array cable routes means we are closing a key stage of seabed preparation for the connections between turbines. The quality of trenching and corridor preparation directly affects installation safety and the protection of the cables once they are laid. We are now focusing on the next offshore work package, maintaining the pace and sequence of activities in line with the project schedule” says Ulrik Ankerstjerne Lange, Vice President and Managing Director of Baltica 2 at Ørsted. Developed by Ørsted in partnership with PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, Baltica 2 is currently the largest offshore wind project under construction in Poland 🌊⚡
