Building the event-led growth engine at ClickUp. From 3 events a quarter → 1 event a week.

When we talk about the importance of AI, the conversation usually comes back to what’s better for the business. And sure, that’s important. But the simpler (and maybe more important) point is this: AI can massively improve your employees’ quality of life. We spend about a third of our lives working. If a tool can give people back some of that time, while still helping the business succeed, then that time should go straight into recharging, not just “doing more.” Because here’s the truth: 👉 High achievers are more likely to burn out. 👉 Burnout = churn. 👉 Churn = costly. I’ve never understood the people who brag about working 24/7. If you can actually do that and stay productive, great… but I’m skeptical. For me? If I don’t take time to recharge, I crash and burn (spectacularly). But if you invest in me, give me what I need to succeed, let me smash my targets, and then actually step away and rest, you’ll get the best version of me. That’s where real performance comes from. Case in point: last year, Trish challenged our team to run two events a week globally. At the time, I thought, not a bloody chance. But she made a promise: if we pushed hard, she’d back us, protect us from being stretched too far for too long, and make sure we had what we needed. She stuck to that promise. And we delivered. Being a top-performing team doesn’t mean running people into the ground and replacing them when burnout inevitably hits. You can build a culture where high achievers thrive and still have a life outside of work. Do I work hard? Absolutely. Do I sometimes work late? Of course. But when there’s downtime? You bet your ass I recharge. And guess what, I’m performing at a pace I didn’t even think was possible a year ago. Without sacrificing evening catch up with friends, going to the gym, family dinners and everything else that fills my little soul cup with joy! 🫶 ✨
