France has demonstrated resilience amid recent global shocks, but challenges remain to secure stronger and more sustainable growth. Public finances are under pressure: the public debt ratio has nearly doubled in 25 years and borrowing costs are among the highest in the euro area. Ensuring fiscal sustainability is a top priority.
