This week at the #ASCRS2026, an Orbis delegation was proud to be part of the global exchange of ideas shaping the future of cataract and refractive surgery. Highlights included: -Maria Jose Montero Romero, Associate Director Clinical Training, delivered cataract skills training during two hands-on skills lab sessions -Hunter Cherwek, Vice President Clinical Services & Technologies, presented outcomes from our Rwanda project and ongoing research: “Intensive Virtual Reality Cataract Surgery Training: Unlocking the Next Generation of Skilled Phacoemulsification Surgeons in LMICs” -Lori Pacheco, RN, CRNO, Associate Director of Volunteer Experience and Engagement, delivered a lecture on “Sterile Processing: Best Practices for the Care and Handling of Ophthalmic Instruments” -Alana Calise, Senior Program Manager Flying Eye Hospital, connected with Volunteer Faculty, partners, and collaborators across the global eye care sector. It was exciting to see Orbis build new relationships with eye care professionals and industry partners and share practical insights from Orbis programs around the world. A big thank you to our team for all their hard work over the course of the event. Oh, and while they were in DC, Maria and Alana paid a little visit to the Orbis exhibition at the Smithsonian Institution.
