Most job seekers focus on the jump. Few focus on the launch pad. I watched a bulldog see an Olympic jump on TV. His solution wasn't to jump immediately. He dragged a beanbag across the room, climbed on it, climbed onto the couch, and only then made the jump. Job seekers often do the opposite. They keep improving their resume, LinkedIn, and interview skills while ignoring the environment around them. Sometimes the biggest career breakthrough comes from a conversation, a community, or a connection - not another application. The right environment creates opportunities that hard work alone can't. What's one opportunity you got that came through people rather than a job application?
