In obesity care, success should be measured by more than the scale. Weight loss matters. But it is only part of the story. Progress can also show up in metabolic health, including A1C, blood pressure, energy, mobility, and healthy habits that can be sustained over time. Two people may lose the same amount of weight and experience very different health outcomes. That is why obesity care should not be defined by body weight alone. As obesity care evolves, especially in the era of GLP 1s and more personalized interventions, it may be time to ask a broader question. Not just, “How much weight did I lose?” But, “What is improving beyond my weight?” In our latest blog, we explore why A1C and metabolic markers may deserve a larger role in how we think about progress in obesity care.
