At Optik, giving our interns the chance to present real work to real leaders is where the program comes alive. This week, we were honoured to welcome distinguished guests, University of Technology Sydney Chancellor, Michael Rose AM, and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) Anika Gauja, together with Brett Oberstein Industry Professor & Head of Collaborative Ventures and Rachael Papa, Manager of UTS Tech Lab, to UTS Tech Lab. Michael and Anika didn't just hear about the program, they saw it in action. And they went straight to the source, spending time with the interns themselves, asking questions, and hearing directly what a 12 week industry-embedded internship actually feels like from the inside on the shop floor. For our interns, presenting to distinguished guests is a different kind of pressure, and a different kind of experiential growth. It's one thing to demo a project for a supervisor. It's another to explain your thinking to the Chancellor and PVC of your own university. That's the shift Optik is built to create: from doing the work, to owning the work, to being able to stand behind it in any room and infront of anyone. Thank you, Michael and Anika, for the time, the generosity, and the genuine interest in what our interns are building, and the impact Optik is creating. And thank you to Brett, Rachel and the whole Tech Lab team for making the visit happen. Once an Optiker, always an Optiker 💙
