The Met Opera called Jessye Norman “one of the great sopranos of the past half-century”. Her career was filled with many accolades, she won four Grammy Awards, the National Medal of Arts and the Kennedy Center Honor. She owned a Sumptuous, creamy and voluptuous tone of voice they were her trademark. She sang at Queen Elizabeth’s 60th birthday celebrations and at the funeral of former US first lady, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. And she sang at the opening ceremony of the Atlanta Olympics.
