Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Germany lead the global rankings in the number of PhD holders per capita. Yet, why do European parliaments still struggle to translate cutting-edge research into effective policy? The core problem? Policymakers and researchers often don't "speak the same language" โ€“ they define complex challenges differently, and research is rarely produced in formats aligned with policy timelines or accessible to non-specialist policymakers. Each Fellow received a tailored research package summarising todayโ€™s most current research on their policy topics, in accessible and policy-aligned formats. Assembled by experts from some of Europeโ€™s leading research institutions, these packages helped to guide Fellowsโ€™ thinking throughout the policy design process. Fellows also received real-time consultation and feedback from these experts on the efficacy and structure of their policy prototype models against the challenges they sought to address. ย  ๐Ÿ”Ž We're grateful to the researchers who contributed their expertise to this work: ย  Javier Borrร s Arumรญ (Researcher and Editor at CIDOB) on Making the EU the world's innovation powerhouse by 2040 Eleonora Bertoni PhD (Independent Researcher and Policy Consultant) on Investing in Human Capital and Education to create 'Europeans par Excellence' ย  Matthew Mclaughlan Merelo (Researcher at CIDOB) and Victor Burguete Vidal (Senior Research Fellow at CIDOB) on A Clean, Secure and Affordable European energy system by 2035 ย  Thanos Chatziioannou (Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs, Leiden University) on Promoting Social Cohesion as a Core Element of European Security ย  Mikael Romรกn, PhD (Independent Strategic Consultant and Docent in Environmental Change, Linkรถping University) on Making Sweden the World's Most Innovative Economic Area by 2040 ย  Gesine Weber, PhD (Center for Security Studies) on Joint Shield โ€“ A Multinational Technical & Intelligence Integrated Standing Force by 2028 ย  Learn more about how the Policy Mission Fellowship is rethinking the policymaker-expert dynamic: https://lnkd.in/deBZ2ieG #evidenceinformedpolicy
