✨ 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 1: 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬 ✨ Last week, the AIM Connect batch had their first clinical visits, exploring four specialties at LMU Klinikum: 🧠 𝐍𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐲 with Dr. Darius Kalasauskas We observed the use of Brainlab navigation toolsin the OR and got a detailed look at how preoperative medical image planning shapes surgical decision-making. Seeing the full process from imaging to the operating table gave us a new appreciation for the precision involved in modern neurosurgery. 🧫 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐚𝐛 with Prof. Michael Vogeser Prof. Vogeser walked us through everything from the lab's automation setup to the latest mass-spectrometry machines. He also gave his take on where lab automation is heading, and the role humanoid robots might play in it. 🔬 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 with Dr. Philipp Jurmeister and Max Roesel We were introduced to current and emerging AI applications in pathology, including foundation models like RudolfV, designed to incorporate pathologist expertise from the ground up rather than as an afterthought. We also got a tour of the lab and a glimpse into the daily routines of a pathologist. 🫀 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐲 with Dr. Joscha Buech Dr. Büch welcomed us into the operating theatre, offering a firsthand look at the workflows and environment of modern cardiac surgery. The visit showed us how far medtech has come and where there is still room for innovation. A valuable first week and a strong reminder of why bridging clinical expertise and technological innovation matters!
