We were hosted by PD Dr. med. Sebastian Clauss, Managing Director and Scientific Coordinator of the center, who took us on a tour of the facilities and walked us through the mission of ICON and the research it will be pursuing. One of the highlights was learning about the role of large animal models - particularly pigs - in cardiopulmonary research. Their physiological similarity to humans makes them invaluable for translational research, and Dr. ClauรŸ gave us a compelling case for why dedicated research centers like ICON are essential for this kind of work to happen. โœจ๐“๐ก๐š๐ง๐ค๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ƒ๐ซ.
