📢 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥 (EN⤵️) On 25 November 2025, #NIRASONDRAF, together with SCK CEN CEN and the FANC - Federal Agency for Nuclear Control launched a new platform to build knowledge on #spentfuel. The three public organisations have joined forces to prepare for the #safe management of spent fuel (from nuclear power plants) in the medium and long term. These are currently stored at Doel and Tihange, but will be transferred to the Belgian State by 2050 at the latest. The cooperation agreement was signed in the presence of FOD Economie / SPF Economie / FPS Economy and #Hedera.   🔶 This platform will enable the exchange of information, the generation of new experimental and modelling-based knowledge, and the anchoring of this knowledge in Belgium. #SCKCEN will make its expertise, nuclear laboratories and advanced digital tools, including a computing cluster, validated calculation methodologies and nuclear data, available via the platform to conduct studies on spent fuel.   ℹ️ This cooperation aligns with the objectives of the law of 26 April 2024, also known as the Phoenix-Law, to reform the #nuclear sector and ensure energy supply.
