#International (EN ⤵️) 🔬At CIMTEC 2026, our colleague Erik Coppens will present work on predictive modelling of the dissolution behaviour of glass composite materials (GCMs), developed through a comprehensive parametric study. The experimental work forming the input of the model, is also presented at CIMTEC by our colleagues from SCK CEN. This research explores how variations in composition and cooling conditions impact the durability of GCMs—key materials considered for waste reconditioning and long-term disposal. 🔍Key highlights include: 🔸A structured experimental design covering a wide range of material compositions 🔸Statistical modelling of dissolution behaviour over time 🔸Identification of critical parameters influencing leaching behaviour 🔸Development of predictive tools to support safety assessments and material design By linking experimental results to predictive models, this work contributes to translating safety requirements into robust material specifications for disposal solutions. ℹ️ This work was done within the STAB-SLAK ETF-project. 👉More about STAB-SLAK ?https://lnkd.in/ekbqdPam 📍 Join us at CIMTEC 2026 to learn more about this research and its implications for safe radioactive waste management. 👉 More info over CIMTEC 2026 : https://lnkd.in/gtRcMj9b #CIMTEC2026 #NuclearRese #nuclearwastemanagement #nirasondraf
