Europe’s energy transition will be shaped by how effectively it is implemented. Our direction is clear: strengthening security of supply while advancing towards a lower-carbon system. The shared ambition is established; the focus is now on delivery across infrastructure, timelines, and the full value chain. This was the focus of yesterday’s exchange with European Commissioner, Dan Jørgensen, during his visit to OMV’s refinery in Schwechat, near Vienna. Together with our CFO, Reinhard Florey, #OMV outlined how this is approached in practice: 🔹 Ensuring reliable energy supply while expanding and diversifying the energy system 🔹 Leveraging integrated value chains, including refining, as part of the transition 🔹 Contributing operational perspective to evolving frameworks such as ReFuelEU Aviation, where implementation details influence outcomes A central consideration is the alignment of security of supply and decarbonization, which progress in parallel and require coordination between policy frameworks and industrial capabilities. Continued progress depends on early engagement, shared understanding of operational realities, and collaboration across industry and policymaking.
