Decarbonizing heat is one of the practical challenges of the energy transition. And geothermal energy can help address it by turning natural heat from deep below ground into a stable, renewable source of energy for homes, heating networks, major sites and industries. At #OMV, our ambition is to deliver 1 TWh of geothermal energy each year by 2030. In Vienna, this is already moving from potential to practice. Together with Wien Energie GmbH, we are developing the city’s first deep geothermal plant, planned to supply climate-neutral district heating for up to 25,000 households from 2029.
