The First OMEGA in Space​ On October 3rd, 1962, astronaut Wally Schirra wore his personal OMEGA Speedmaster CK 2998 aboard Sigma 7, during the Mercury-Atlas 8 mission. He had purchased the watch himself. It became the first OMEGA in space. The Speedmaster would go on to become the only watch selected by NASA for its manned missions.​ The First OMEGA in Space draws on that original CK 2998. The 2nd generation silhouette, with the straight lugs of the pre-Moon era and the black aluminium bezel carrying its emblematic “Dot Over Ninety”.
