Is AI FOMO really a thing? 🤔 72% of UK business leaders say their organisation is investing in AI, only 35% have a formal strategy. We work with Data and AI teams across the UK market and see the same issues come up: Businesses often feel the pressure not to be left behind; they have invested in tools and run proofs of concept without first asking “what are we actually trying to fix”. When the PoC is done, they may not move the concept into production. This may be due to either a talent shortage of ML/data Engineers, change in priorities, fear of failure, possibly lack of ownership or not enough confidence in its return. In some cases the strategy is there, but the technical talent isn’t. We’ve seen that AI specialist roles are rapidly growing and talent supply can’t keep up. Furthermore, looking for the ‘perfect’ candidate might not exist in a relatively newer market. We think the key here is to hire deliberately. Define the problem first, then find talent who are fast learners and can grow with it. If this resonates and you’d like insights on the Data and AI recruitment market, get in touch.
