Just when we thought we'd cracked food waste across all sectors: enter vending machines 👀 Turns out there's a *whole lot* of edible surplus food that needs rescuing from inside smart fridges and vending machines in workplaces across the UK. And that's where our partnership with the brilliant Connect Vending ☕ team comes in 💚 Since October 2022, Connect Vending has been working with Olio to give any good-to-eat surplus food from their machines a second life. Our Food Waste Heroes visit their sites, collect items looking for a new home, and share them with people nearby. The results so far? 🍽️ 6,600 meals redistributed 📦 2.9 tonnes of edible food saved 🌍 11,900 kg of CO2 emissions avoided 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 577 local families reached Our partnership proves something we've always believed at Olio: no source of surplus food is too niche for redistribution.
