Old Mutual's Agentic AI Prompt-a-thon: Where enterprise innovation met young talent Old Mutual recently hosted its Agentic AI Prompt-a-thon in partnership with Microsoft at the Global Capability Hub in Durban, creating a practical learning environment for colleagues, students and young innovators to explore how AI can be applied to real business challenges. The programme combined a master prompting workshop with hands-on team challenges, giving participants the opportunity to test ideas, develop use cases and build AI-powered agents linked to practical workplace needs. For Old Mutual, the Prompt-a-thon forms part of a broader commitment to building a more technology-led and AI-enabled financial services organisation. It supports our focus on strengthening digital skills, encouraging experimentation and helping our people engage with emerging technology in ways that are useful, responsible and commercially relevant. The Durban edition also reinforced the importance of youth development in shaping the future of AI. Through collaboration with Microsoft and engagement with Eduvos, Durban University of Technology, Rosebank International South Africa’s Techno Legends Tech Society, and alumni of the Innovate Durban Youth Innovation Challenge, the event helped connect enterprise innovation with young talent, academic communities and local innovation networks. As AI changes how industries work, initiatives like this play an important role in building local capability, developing future-ready skills and creating pathways for young people to participate meaningfully in the digital economy. Congratulations to the winning team Autobots, who developed an onboarding agent to help simplify the employee experience, and thank you to every participant, organiser, facilitator and partner who contributed to the success of the day. #OldMutual #AI #AgenticAI #Innovation #YouthDevelopment #DigitalSkills #FutureOfWork #Technology #MicrosoftCopilot #Durban
