🚨 £1300 in Prizes for Medical and Dental Applicants – Essay Competition Now Open! 🚨 Note --> if you are an university student/doctor keen to deliver virtual work experience & host free super-curricular access events (while still being PAID at competitive rates to do so!) --> please repost this + comment or reach out to me :) At MyUCAT Admissions Specialists, over the last few years, I have had the privilege of helping thousands of students to secure places at medical and dental schools. Students from all kinds of backgrounds, including those from non-selective state schools like my own (looking forward to running more free events with the brilliant Medics&Me this year too!) However, we have become increasingly aware of a limitation - while this may be highly effective - ultimately we are just teaching to the test. Although this approach gets results, it fails to address deeper systemic inequalities of cultural capital - students from well-resourced backgrounds often benefit from connections, school medical societies, or simply the encouragement to explore medicine and dentistry in a meaningful way beyond the UCAT or interview checklists. Access to medicine and dentistry shouldn't depend on where you go to school or who you know: it should depend on your potential. The National Medical and Dental Society (NMDS) has recently been launched as the widening access wing of MyUCAT Admissions Specialists. The aim is to run competitions, deliver super-curricular events, and champion learning for learning's sake - encouraging inquisitive minds to explore beyond the curriculum. We hope to spark a genuine enthusiasm for learning. I am excited to present an annual essay competition, open to all aspiring medics and dentists. This offers an opportunity to showcase knowledge and curiosity whilst learning about an area of healthcare to discuss on personal statements and at interview. Questions include (see link in comments for full list): ➡️Choose an example of widely believed medical misinformation. Why does it spread, what is its impact, and how can it be addressed? ➡️Why is the personalisation of dental healthcare important, and what are its potential implications for the future of healthcare? 🏆 Win a share of prizes, including access to funded places on UCAT/personal statement/interview preparation programmes, free tuition, Amazon vouchers, and opportunities for publication! 📌 Deadline: 11:59 PM, June 22nd 📄 Word Limit: 1500 words +- 10% 🎓 Who can enter? Anyone considering medicine or dentistry (ideal for students applying in the 2025 UCAS cycle, but younger students are welcome!) ------- 💬 To participate, ensure that you have joined one of our official WhatsApp groups: UCAT Experts or UCAT Experts v2. This ensures you receive timely updates and are connected to our wider student network. National Medical and Dental Society Fostering Excellence, Curiosity, and Collaboration 👉 Join now. Get inspired.
