πΊππππππππ ππ πΊππππππ 6 ππ πππ π·πππππ π³πππ π³ππππ πΉπππ πππππππ Weβre proud to recognize the incredible dedication and teamwork that have brought this transformative project to 87% completion, and we are just as excited to share that the dynamic testing of trains, which began last year, has now moved into an especially important area of the alignment:Β Segment 6. This four-mile stretch, of which a large portion traverses the University of Maryland campus, represents one of the most complex and demanding parts of the assignment. Hereβs a closer look at what made Segment 6 especially challenging: πΉ 4 stations within the University of Maryland campus πΉ 2.3 miles of track πΉ Track composition: 85% embedded, 10% ballasted, 5% direct fixation πΉ 262 utility conflictsβroughly one every 45 feet πΉ 44,000 cubic yards of excavation (enough to fill 13+ Olympic-size pools) πΉ Strict construction windows aligned with academic schedules to minimize disruption πΉ Stormwater systems representing 65% of the scope, including: β’ 3 underground detention ponds β’ 230 storm drain structures β’ 14,000 LF of piping (nearly 3 loops around the Pentagon) πΉ 66,000 LF of conduit (the distance from Wall Street to Central Park and back!) πΉ 222 overhead catenary structures πΉ Intensive maintenance of traffic coordination in a highly active campus environment The $2.9 billion project, delivered by Maryland Transit Solutionsβa joint venture between FlatironDragados USA and OHLA USAβhas required precision, innovation, and relentless coordination. π Congratulations to all our project team members, our clients, and partners on reaching this milestone!Β Thank you all for your continued efforts in helping advance this project. #PurpleLineMD #Infrastructure #Transit #Construction #Engineering #Teamwork #ProjectManagement #Innovation #OHLAUSA #FlatironDragados #BuildingTheFuture #ComeBuildWithUs #WeAreOHLA
