The Chief Psychiatrist is proud to support the AIM WA Beediyar program to strengthen Aboriginal leadership in Western Australia’s organisations and institutions. The Beediyar program is a year-long leadership development intensive bringing together a collective of Aboriginal professionals across government, not-for-profits and the private sector for an intensive curriculum combining cultural knowledge, peer connection and contemporary leadership practice. In the mental health sector, the Gayaa Dhuwi Declaration calls for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders to be not just visible, but influential and supported across all parts of the mental health system Change will only happen when government agencies understand that Aboriginal leaders must be at the very highest executive levels of public service agencies. The Chief Psychiatrist is proud to honour the Gayya Dhuwi Declaration and Aboriginal leadership through the AIM WA Beediyar Program.
