As orbital traffic increases, global coordination has never been more critical. Fortunately, space situational awareness and orbital safety took center stage at this year's UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS). During this year's session, the Office of Space Commerce's Mariel Borowitz shared timely updates on the Traffic Coordination System for Space. Meanwhile, the UN "Expert Group on Space Situational Awareness" released proposed recommendations on operational info-sharing parameters - a vital step toward preventing collisions in space.
