Who is using generative AI chatbots, which ones and how is that evolving? New analysis from Sara Rendtorff-Smith, Luis Aranda, Jeff Mollins and Clémence Descubes of the #OECD Secretariat introduces a novel way to measure GenAI chatbot adoption using web traffic data from #Similarweb, providing a timely view of how people engage with AI across GPAI countries. The findings reveal several important trends: • AI chatbot adoption has grown rapidly, reaching nearly 30% of the population across GPAI countries. • Usage is spreading beyond early adopters, with much of the recent growth coming from people aged 35 and over. • Different chatbots are associated with different use cases, from recreation to workplace productivity and coding. • Adoption patterns vary across countries, age groups and gender.
