#OccasionalPaper | #ORFIndia Given the critical importance of PNT systems for the modern #military, augmenting existing capabilities while exploring novel ones like quantum sensing must constitute a strategic priority within any nation’s #military doctrine. Quantum PNT systems offer a distinct advantage over classical systems as they do not rely on external signals and hence, are immune to jamming or spoofing. Though #India has made reasonable progress in terms of quantum sensing systems via its National Quantum Mission, it needs a more refined and coordinated approach led by the Ministry of Defence. The Indian #military must undertake a comprehensive assessment of its current PNT capabilities and subsequently, develop a long-term strategy for PNT resilience with a clear outline for augmentation via quantum sensing platforms. In addition to providing a significant advantage on the battlefield, this will also go a long way in ensuring the timely commercialisation of quantum technologies within #India.
