#OcassionalPaper | #ORFIndia This paper by Archishman Ray G. examines the growth and implications of counter-open-source intelligence (counter-OSINT) within contemporary national intelligence mandates. #OSINT’s use by #NationalIntelligence services has traditionally been limited to its utility as a passive, often inviolable tool of validation under short-term tactical and operational contexts. Yet in an accelerating, #data-saturated, and volatile #geostrategic terrain, the rise of counter-OSINT—the #weaponisation of OSINT as a kinetic tool for #counterespionage—renders such assumptions increasingly fallible. Emerging and disruptive #technologies can corrupt the very methodologies through which #intelligence services leverage OSINT data for decision dominance. Given this premise, the paper explores the nature and implications of counter-OSINT in the modern #threat landscape, fleshing out what this term means, analysing its ramifications for strategic and #military intelligence respectively, and classifying its use within Western, #Russian, and #Chinese strategic planning. The paper concludes with some recommendations for #India’s national security community to adopt to this end. Read the Paper 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g7PNRvk7
