#SpecialReport | #ORFIndia The simultaneous Chinese blockades in eastern #Ladakh in 2020 marked a disruption of the nearly three decades of managed relations that had largely maintained #peace and tranquillity along the #LineOfActualControl. For the first time since 1975, lives were lost in a clash at #Galwan, and the forces built up by both sides presaged possible escalation. New Delhi handled the issue with calm and foresight, cutting normal relations with Beijing but choosing to use diplomatic means to deal with the situation. #China has since lifted its #blockades, and while normalcy has been restored in #Depsang and Demchok, the two sides have created “no patrol zones” at the other sites of the face-offs. This Report by Manoj Joshi reads on how the ties between #India and China have slowly normalised, and apex-level contact has resumed. There is still a need, however, for the #deescalation of the forces brought into the region. The two countries now face the task of restoring their ties based on the lessons they learned from the Galwan events. Read the Report: https://lnkd.in/g9xtiWke
